After trying for almost a year, we realized conception actually happens within a few hours to a day after ovulation, though the sperm can live inside for up to 5 days. We kept tracking my ovulation cycle carefully and finally succeeded. Don't lose hope if it takes a few months to get the timing right.
Conception itself happens within 24 hours of ovulation, but implantation takes another 6 to 12 days. I had ectopic pregnancy complications earlier, so I highly recommend consulting your doctor and getting an early ultrasound once you get a positive test to ensure everything is safe.
Biologically, fertilization happens within 24 hours after ovulation, and implantation takes about a week. While fertilization happens within a day of ovulation, your hormonal health plays a massive role in implantation. Because of my thyroid issues, it took me much longer to conceive. I recommend getting your TSH levels checked and keeping in regular touch with your doctor.
