How far along am i in pregnancy?

I just found out I'm pregnant, and I'm super excited! My last period was a while ago, and I'm trying to figure out how many weeks along I might be. How do doctors usually calculate this?

I just went through this last month! You have to count from the very first day of your last period, not the date you missed it. Even if you think conception happened later, doctors always calculate pregnancy weeks from that last period date.

The easiest way is to use a free online pregnancy wheel calculator. Just enter the first day of your last menstrual period and it gives you the exact weeks. But for final confirmation, getting a basic dating scan done at a local clinic is the best option.

My mother always says to count from the last cycle date, but the clinical way is always more accurate. Your doctor will perform an early ultrasound scan which tells the exact gestational age based on the baby's growth. It is better to rely on that medical estimate.

Knowing your exact weeks is very important, especially for planning your diet and sugar checks if you have gestational concerns. Once the doctor tells you your current week, make sure you align your meals and glucose tests accordingly.

Just check your last period date and count the weeks on your calendar right away. Once you have a rough idea, book an early ultrasound slot on the weekend. It takes barely thirty minutes but gives you the exact date of conception and due date.
