How does surrogate pregnancy work?

For a few years now, my husband and I have been trying to conceive without success. Our doctor mentioned surrogacy as a possible option. Trying to understand the whole process better, I wonder how does surrogate pregnancy actually work?

It is a process where another woman carries the child for a couple who cannot conceive. During this time, the surrogate mother must be taken care of with nutritious, traditional food like almonds and fresh milk to keep her healthy.

In surrogacy, an embryo created via IVF is implanted in the surrogate mother's uterus to carry the pregnancy to term.

We just blessed our lives with a baby through gestational surrogacy last year after multiple IVF failures. It involves rigorous legal contracts, psychological screening, and IVF transfers, but seeing our baby made every single hurdle worth it.

Basically, they create the embryo using the biological parents' egg and sperm in a lab, then transfer it to the surrogate. She carries the baby, but genetically the baby belongs to the parents. It is legally very structured in India now.

It is a highly regulated legal and medical process in India now, primarily altruistic. If you are considering it, hire a lawyer specializing in family law first to understand the paperwork before even visiting an IVF clinic.

It is basically outsourcing the hardest nine months of human creation because your own body's engine is refusing to start. A very complex scientific miracle, though my wallet got thin just reading about the legal and clinic fees!

No matter who carries the pregnancy, the surrogate needs top-tier nutrition, strong pelvic strength, and gentle prenatal yoga. A healthy, active body during those nine months ensures a smooth delivery and a healthy child.

Haan na, science has progressed so much now. Someone else carries the baby in their womb with so much care, it is a beautiful thing ho na. It gives hope to so many childless couples.
