How does sleep deprivation contribute to weight gain?

Doc, I've been feeling so exhausted lately because of my demanding work schedule. I'm also noticing that I'm putting on weight, even though I'm trying to eat healthy. Is there actually a connection between not getting enough sleep and gaining weight?

Honestly, whenever I sleep for just 4-5 hours, my scale instantly shows a bump the next day. I get so anxious thinking it's permanent fat, does this happen to anyone else too? It is like my body just holds onto everything when I am exhausted.

When we do not sleep enough, our hunger hormones get completely unbalanced. Ghrelin, which makes you feel hungry, goes up, and leptin, which signals fullness, goes down. I always advise people in this group to fix their bedtime first before starting any strict diet.

My late-night fridge raids are definitely not because I am possessed, it is just my hormones crying for sleep! Your brain literally thinks you are running from a tiger, so it stores every single calorie. Just go to sleep, your wallet and your waistline will thank you.

Hey, don't stress too much about the sudden weight fluctuations, okay? Just try to get 7 hours of solid rest tonight and watch how your body bounces back. When you're tired, your metabolism just runs a bit slow, so take it easy on yourself.

Bro, it is totally real. When I pull all-nighters for exams or gaming, I end up ordering late-night biryani or pizza because my self-control goes to zero. You just feel constantly hungry the next day because your body is craving fast energy.

I used to struggle with this so much when I started my IT job. I noticed that sleep loss makes me skip my morning workouts too because I'm just too tired to move. Getting regular sleep actually made it so much easier to manage my weight without starving.
