How does long term alcohol use affect the liver?

My uncle has been drinking for many years now, and I'm quite worried about him. What are the long-term effects of alcohol use on the liver? I want to know how serious this can get.

It slowly turns healthy liver tissue into fat and then scars, leading to liver failure. The only realistic tip is to stop drinking completely and get regular liver enzyme tests under a doctor's guidance.

It causes irreversible scarring called cirrhosis, which is what happened to me after years of drinking. Please don't ignore early signs of fatigue and jaundice, and consult a doctor immediately.

I completely understand the anxiety you might be feeling when looking up liver symptoms online. It can lead to fatty liver and scarring, but getting a simple blood test will help ease your mind.

My doctor at Lilavati explained that prolonged alcohol intake destroys the liver's ability to regenerate. Go to a good hospital, get an LFT and FibroScan, and discuss the results clearly with your physician.

Over time, it causes inflammation and permanent liver damage. Because metabolic conditions are delicate, I always support getting a medical professional's advice rather than self-assessing.
