How does induction work pregnancy?

My gynaecologist mentioned that if I go past my due date, induction might be an option. I'm a bit nervous about the whole process. Can someone explain how induction actually works during pregnancy and what all it entails?

Honestly, induction is not something you can plan on your own. During my delivery, they had to induce me because my water broke but pains didn't start. It can get very intense very quickly, so please discuss the whole process and risks with your gynaecologist beforehand.

I completely agree with Priyanka. They basically use medicines or gel to artificially start your labor pains, but let your doctor decide when it is actually needed.

My wife had gestational diabetes and her doctor suggested induction a week early because of sugar levels and baby's weight. They monitor everything so closely. If you have gestational diabetes too, keeping your diet super clean during those final weeks really helps keep things controlled before the induction date.

They use specific medical methods like oxytocin drip to start the contractions. Do not try any heavy home remedies, warm spices, or castor oil to induce yourself at home. Just focus on light, nutritious vegetarian meals to keep your strength up for the hospital.

My bhabhi was induced and she told us it took almost a whole day to get things moving. Honestly, she was just craving some hot cheese pizza the entire time because hospital food is so bland. Just eat a good comforting meal before you check in, you will need all that energy!
