How does copper iud prevent pregnancy?

My gynaecologist suggested a copper IUD as a long-term birth control option. Trying to understand how it works inside the body to prevent pregnancy. Is it hormones, or is there a different mechanism involved?

It is very simple. The copper wrapped around the plastic device is toxic to sperm, so it stops them from swimming to the egg. It doesn't use any hormones, so your natural cycle remains completely undisturbed. A very solid, long-term option.

It acts as a natural shield inside the body, using copper ions to prevent fertilization gently without changing your hormonal balance. Trust your body's wisdom and stay positive. Just make sure to visit a good gynecologist to have it fitted safely.

Basically, copper acts as a natural spermicide inside the uterus. It triggers a mild inflammatory reaction that makes the environment impossible for sperm to survive or fertilize an egg. It is over 99% effective and lasts for up to ten years easily.

Think of it like putting up a giant 'No Entry' sign for sperm. The copper ions basically disable the sperm so they can't do any swimming laps to reach the egg. No hormones, no daily pill reminders, just set it and forget it!

It releases copper ions that prevent fertilization by changing the uterine fluid. Since it is completely hormone-free, it doesn't affect your metabolism or appetite like oral contraceptives do. It is a very clean option for women who prefer natural body rhythms.
