How do u avoid sleep paralysis?

Lately, I've been waking up sometimes feeling like I can't move, which is really scary. A friend told me it might be sleep paralysis. What can one do to avoid this experience?

Agree with keeping a fixed sleep schedule, it really helps. Also, try to avoid sleeping flat on your back as it triggers it very often.

My grandmother used to say that bad dreams and paralysis happen if you sleep with your head to the north, but my doctor told me it is just due to irregular REM sleep cycles. Keeping a calm mind and drinking a glass of warm milk before bed has really helped me manage it.

It usually happens when the mind is highly agitated and the body is extremely exhausted. Practicing 10 minutes of Bhramari Pranayama and deep abdominal breathing before sleeping relaxes the nervous system and prevents these sudden sleep state overlaps.

I used to get this twice a week and it was terrifying. The trick is to never sleep on your back, always sleep on your side, and if you do wake up paralyzed, don't panic—just try to wiggle your big toe or blink rapidly to break the state.

While occasional sleep paralysis is common, if it is happening multiple times a week or causing you daytime sleepiness, it could be a sign of narcolepsy or a sleep apnea issue. Please consult a qualified sleep specialist or neurologist for a proper evaluation.

Most of the time it is just due to sheer tiredness and sleeping at odd hours. Just make a strict rule to sleep and wake up at the exact same time everyday and keep your room completely dark and quiet. Simple lifestyle discipline is the best cure.

Haan na, it feels so scary when you can't move your body! Actually, whenever my screen time is too high before bed, this happens. Try to keep your phone away one hour before sleeping and just listen to some calm music, it really works.
