How do dentists fill cavities between teeth?

I have a cavity right between two teeth and my dentist said it needs a filling. I'm wondering how they actually manage to fill such a difficult spot. Is the process different than for normal cavities?

I am a bit nervous because I might have one of these. Do they have to grind both of the teeth to fill just one cavity between them, or can they do it separately?

Cavities between teeth are very tricky because they can easily spread to the adjacent tooth without you noticing. Please get an X-ray done at a proper dental clinic to see how deep it is before it reaches the roots.

I had a few of these filled back in my 40s. The dentist will slide a very thin guard between the teeth, clean the side decay, and put the filling. It is a very safe and routine procedure that keeps your teeth strong for years.

Actually yaar, they use this thin metal strip called a matrix band to separate the teeth while filling. That way, the filling doesn't stick the two teeth together and you can still floss normally. It's a bit uncomfortable but very doable.

I was researching this because my cousin got it done. They use a tiny wedge and a band to recreate the natural wall of the tooth. It's pretty cool how they shape it so that food doesn't keep getting stuck there afterward.
