How common is hair loss with bupropion?

I just started taking bupropion for my depression, and my friend mentioned that some people experience hair loss with it. I'm a bit worried about this side effect. How common is hair loss when taking this medication?

Hair loss with this medicine is not very common, but it can happen to some. While I always recommend gentle coconut oil massages and a good diet for hair strength, please consult your prescribing doctor before changing any psychiatric medications.

My friend faced some temporary hair shedding when she started bupropion, and she got super worried. It turned out to be telogen effluvium, which is usually temporary and stops after a few months. Definitely discuss this with your doctor for peace of mind.

Look, hair thinning can happen as a rare side effect of bupropion, but don't just stop the medicine on your own. That is risky. Go straight to the doctor who prescribed it and ask for an alternative if the hair loss is bothering you too much.

It is actually a rare side effect, affecting less than 1% of users. Don't panic and ruin your treatment over this. Just talk to your psychiatrist clearly; they can easily manage this or suggest a supplement to help.

I know how stressful it is to lose hair while trying to manage your mental health. While onion juice and mild oils can soothe the scalp, they won't stop drug-induced shedding. It is best to be practical and let your doctor know so they can evaluate the dosage.
