Does whey protein cause weight gain?

I've started going to the gym and my trainer suggested whey protein for recovery. My main goal is to tone up, not gain weight. Will taking whey protein make me put on extra kilos?

My nutritionist explained that whey protein has calories just like any other food. If you add it to your diet without adjusting your overall calorie intake, it will lead to weight gain.

I bought whey to lose weight but ended up gaining two kilos because I was also eating my regular parathas! You have to be careful with total food intake.

Ho na, some people think whey is a magic weight loss powder. But if we mix it with whole milk and bananas, it will definitely cause weight gain.

It all depends on your body's physical activity. If you are taking whey but sitting all day, it might lead to unwanted weight gain, so keep moving gently.

Just track your daily calories on an app. One scoop of whey is around 120-140 calories, so as long as it fits your daily budget, you won't gain fat.
