Does weight gain affect snoring?

My wife has been complaining a lot about my snoring lately, saying it's gotten much worse. In the last year, I've also put on a good 8-10 kgs. Could this weight gain be the reason why I'm snoring so much now?

Actually yaar, it has a huge impact. I put on about 10 kilos last year and my wife started complaining about my loud snoring. It happens because extra tissue builds up around the throat. Once you lose a bit of weight, it reduces a lot.

Yes, absolutely. When I gained weight due to my thyroid, my snoring became really bad because of extra fat around the neck. Please get your thyroid and sleep tests done, and consult your doctor regularly to keep things under control.

I noticed this with my partner recently when he put on some weight during the festive season. His snoring became quite loud out of nowhere. We are focusing on light dinners and evening walks now, and it is already helping a bit!

Yes, gaining weight can cause or increase snoring because it puts pressure on the airways. Try sleeping on your side for some comfort. It is very common, so please don't feel bad about it; a gentle doctor can guide you well.

It definitely does. My snoring got worse with my weight gain, and that actually started affecting my blood pressure too. It is all connected to sleep apnea. Please get your BP checked and work on a healthier lifestyle and regular doctors' visits.

I literally just recovered from this issue! I lost around 8 kgs over the last four months, and my snoring has almost completely stopped. The airway gets much clearer once that neck fat reduces. It takes effort but the relief is totally worth it.
