Does wearing hats make your hair fall out?

I wear a cap almost daily, especially when I go out in the sun or play cricket. My father jokingly said it'll make my hair fall out, which got me thinking. Is there any truth to this or is it just an old wives' tale?

Honestly I used to worry about this every single day because my husband wears a cap to work. I read so many articles saying it cuts off air to the roots. But actually, unless you are pulling it tight enough to hurt your scalp, it should be fine. Still, maybe don't wear it 24/7 just to be safe?

Don't believe every random WhatsApp forward or Instagram reel about hair fall. If caps caused baldness, every cricketer would be bald by now. Just go to a proper dermatologist and get your scalp checked instead of guessing online.

I am also quite worried about this lately because I started wearing a helmet daily for my new scooty. Does sweat inside the cap or helmet make the hair roots weak? If anyone knows how to prevent that, please do share.

I had terrible hair fall last year and thought it was because of my daily golf cap. When I visited the doctor, he did some tests and found my Vitamin D and B12 were extremely low. Once I took the supplements he prescribed, the shedding stopped completely, even though I still wear my caps.

Yaar, my baby kept me up till 4 AM today so my brain is fried, but I can tell you this much. If hats caused hair loss, my messy mom-bun would have made me completely bald by now. It is mostly just genetics and stress, not a simple cap.

Haan na, even my son kept asking me this same question last week. I told him that if you keep your cap clean and don't wear it on wet hair, nothing will happen. If you wear it on wet hair, dandruff and fungal infections can happen, ho na.

Listen to me, don't stress too much about this! Unless your cap is super tight and pulling your hair from the roots constantly, it is not going to cause baldness. Just relax, wash your cap regularly to avoid dirt, and you are totally fine.

Bro, I wear a snapback almost every day to college and my hair is still super thick. My gym trainer told me that traction alopecia only happens if you tie your hair tight or wear extremely tight headbands. normal caps won't do anything.

I was just reading some medical blogs on this yesterday out of curiosity. It turns out that genetic male pattern baldness is caused by hormones, not hats. Unless the hat is rubbing against your scalp so hard that it causes scarring, it is mostly a myth.

I wear a running cap during my morning jogs to block the sun, and my doctor actually said it protects the scalp from UV damage. Just ensure you wash your sweat off after your workouts. Staying active keeps your blood circulation good, which actually helps hair health.
