Does wearing a hat everyday cause hair loss?

I wear a hat every single day, mostly for sun protection but sometimes just for style. I've started seeing a bit more hair fall recently and I'm a bit worried. Could wearing a hat daily be the reason for my hair loss?

Wearing a hat daily traps a lot of sweat and dust, which can weaken the hair roots over time. It is always best to let your scalp breathe in natural air. You can apply a few drops of coconut oil to keep the scalp nourished and prevent dryness.

No, daily hat use doesn't cause baldness unless the hat is so tight it causes constant friction and pulling, known as traction alopecia. Just ensure your hats are washed regularly so you don't develop any fungal scalp infections from the sweat.

I wear a cap daily for my commute and asked my doctor about this. She said it is a myth; as long as the hat fits loosely and you keep your scalp clean, there is zero risk of hair fall. Don't worry about it and keep your daily routine going.

I know how stressful it is to see hair in your cap and worry you are going bald. I went through the same anxiety but realized it was just my stress making it worse, not the cap. Take a deep breath, your daily cap is perfectly fine to wear.

My son used to wear his cap every single day and complained of itching and some hair fall. I made him start washing his cap twice a week and told him to take it off indoors. The itching and extra shedding stopped completely within a week.
