Does vodka cause weight gain?

I've been trying to watch my weight and cut down on carbs, but my friends and I often drink vodka-soda on weekends. Someone told me vodka doesn't cause weight gain like beer or other alcohols. Is this actually true, or should I be more careful?

I used to think clear alcohol has no calories and kept drinking while ignoring my bloating and weight gain. Later my liver reports came back bad and my doc warned me. Please get your liver profile checked before making any assumptions.

According to my fitness tracker app, 30ml of vodka is around 64 calories, but the real issue is the mixers like sweet juices or tonic water. Plus, alcohol slows down your metabolism, making it harder to burn fat the next day.

Any kind of alcohol produces heat and toxins in the body, which leads to slow digestion and weight issues. It is better to avoid these things and drink warm ginger tea or lemon-honey water in the mornings to keep your metabolism active.

Honestly, don't stress too much about having a drink occasionally! Just make sure you are not mixing it with heavy sugary sodas. Stick to soda-water and lime, keep eating healthy, and you will be absolutely fine.

I had severe acidity and sudden weight issues when I drank regularly, which actually turned out to be a metabolic imbalance. It is always safer to consult a physician to understand how alcohol affects your specific body chemistry.

My grandmother always said that processing hard drinks ruins our digestive system, which naturally causes weight gain. My family doctor also confirmed that even clear spirits can disrupt your gut health if you take them too often.

I keep researching this online because I am terrified of gaining belly fat from weekend drinks. From what I read, the liver stops processing food fat while it is busy breaking down the alcohol. It is so scary, so maybe keep it to a minimum just to be safe.

Even I notice my face looking very bloated and my scale going up by a kilo the morning after drinking vodka. Does this happen to everyone else too, or is it just some major water retention?

The vodka bottle itself might not have fat, but those midnight butter chickens and kebabs we eat after three pegs are the real culprits! At my age, even looking at a drink seems to add an inch to my waist.

It is all about calories in versus calories out. Vodka itself has empty calories, and we usually end up eating fried snacks along with it because we have no time to prep healthy meals after a long workday. Control the side-bites and you won't see a massive gain.
