Does vitex cause weight gain?

I've been recommended Vitex to help with my irregular periods and hormonal imbalances. I'm already struggling with my weight, so I'm really concerned. Does taking Vitex often lead to weight gain?

I was prescribed Vitex (Chasteberry) for my irregular periods last year. In my personal experience, I didn't gain any weight, but I did notice thoda bloating during the first two weeks which settled down later.

Vitex is commonly used to balance hormones, especially progesterone and prolactin. Since it affects your hormones, some women do experience mild fluid retention or increased appetite, which feels like weight gain. It is always wise to discuss this with your gynecologist before starting.

I got so worried reading online that Vitex can mess with your weight and mood! I've been hesitating to start it because of my anxiety about side effects. If you do start it, maybe keep a daily log of your weight and how you feel, just to be safe and calm your mind.

I am also thinking of starting Vitex for my severe PMS symptoms, but I am a bit scared about the weight gain too. Has anyone here used it for more than three months? Did it affect your weight or face acne at all?

My wife was looking into Vitex for her hormonal balance. I always tell her that any herb affecting hormones can impact your metabolism and blood pressure, so a regular checkup is necessary. Don't rely on internet advice; let a doctor check your hormone levels first.

My daughter was recommended Vitex by her herbalist for painful periods. She was very worried about gaining weight because of her college routine, but with regular exercise and a healthy diet, she didn't face any issues. Just make sure to monitor your health closely.
