Does uhc cover weight loss surgery?

After trying various methods, my doctor and I are now considering weight loss surgery. It's a big step financially. I hold a UnitedHealthcare policy, and I'm wondering if UHC covers weight loss surgery procedures like bariatric surgery.

UnitedHealthcare does cover bariatric surgery, but only if you meet strict medical necessity criteria, such as a BMI over 40 or over 35 with co-morbidities like sleep apnea. My doctor noted that you also need to show proof of a supervised diet program before they approve the surgery.

Yes, they cover it under many plans if it's medically necessary. But remember, after the surgery, your stomach becomes very small, so you have to say goodbye to massive food cravings and heavy meals forever, which is a big lifestyle change!

Many UHC plans cover weight loss surgery if you meet their clinical standards. However, even after surgery, you will have to strictly follow a very disciplined, nutrient-dense diet to avoid deficiencies, so preparing your mind for that is crucial.

They do cover it under corporate plans, ho na. But the paperwork is very long and you have to go through many tests first. It is better to talk to your company's HR benefits team directly to understand the exact process.

Haan, UHC cover toh karta hai bariatric surgery, par unke bohot saare rules hain na. Aapko unke designated hospital se hi karwana padega aur doctor se saare approvals pehle se lene honge, warna claim reject ho sakta hai.
