Does typhoid still exist today?

My elderly mother keeps reminding me to be careful about what I eat and drink because of typhoid. I always thought it was an old disease, not so common now. Does typhoid still exist today, especially in cities like ours?

Haan na, it definitely exists even today. People think it is a disease of the past, but in rainy season so many people get infected. Just be careful about where you drink water from, especially when outside.

Yes, we see quite a few typhoid cases every year, especially during water logging seasons. It is caused by Salmonella bacteria through contaminated food or water. It's easily treatable with antibiotics, but prevention is always better, so get vaccinated if you can.

Yes, it is very much alive! My craving for roadside bhel and pani puri actually got me hospitalized with typhoid last year. Now I only go to highly hygienic places, because getting typhoid means saying goodbye to tasty food for a month.

Absolutely, my 10-year-old son got it last summer from eating outside food at a birthday party. It was a very stressful two weeks of high fever and liquid diet. Please ensure kids wash their hands regularly and eat clean food.

Yes, it is very common in Indian cities due to water contamination issues. I always carry my own water bottle when I step out and avoid raw vegetables at restaurants during the monsoon to avoid catching it.

Haan yaar, typhoid toh abhi bhi bohot common hai, specially jab baarish ka mausam hota hai na. Fast food stalls pe unclean water use hone se yeh jaldi phailta hai, toh thoda dhyaan rakhna padta hai.

It is still present around us, yes. But there is no need to live in fear; just take simple, mindful precautions with your eating habits and keep your body's immunity strong with healthy food and a calm mind.

It definitely exists and treatment can disturb your monthly budget. The Widal test for diagnosis and the course of antibiotics can easily cost you a few thousand rupees, so spending a small amount on clean bottled water when traveling is much wiser.

Yes, it exists, but don't worry too much. As long as you boil your drinking water, wash your fruits properly, and avoid eating at unhygienic places, you will be completely safe. Just take these basic precautions.
