Does two stroke oil expire?
I found an old can of two-stroke oil in my garage that's been sitting there for a while. I need to use it for my scooter, but I'm not sure if it can expire. Is it still safe to use or should I buy a new one?

Don't worry, your scooter won't explode if the oil has been sitting in the garage for a year! Unopened two-stroke oil can easily last for several years. Just make sure there is no water mixed in it, or you will end up walking your bike to the mechanic.
I totally get it, you don't want to ruin your expensive machine with bad oil. Generally, if the bottle is sealed, it lasts a very long time, almost up to 5 years. But if it looks cloudy or has separated, it is safer to just buy a fresh bottle.
I am not an expert on mechanical things, but my brother always checks the seal of the oil bottle before using it. He says moisture can degrade the oil over time. It is always better to be safe and use fresh oil if you have any doubts.
In my years of maintaining old scooters, I found that sealed oils rarely go bad quickly. Keep the bottle in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. If it has been open for too long, just check the smell and color before using it.
Why take a risk with your bike's engine over a cheap bottle of oil? If the bottle is very old and open, just use it for lubricating gate hinges or cycles instead. Buy a fresh oil packet for your vehicle, it hardly costs much.

Actually, two-stroke oil has a super long shelf life if it's unopened, yaar. It can easily last around 3 to 5 years. But once you open it, try to use it within a year so moisture doesn't ruin it.
I had a can of two-stroke oil lying in my shed for nearly three years and used it in my lawn mower last month. It worked absolutely fine with no issues at all. But that is just my experience, so check the consistency before you pour.
