Does turmeric cause weight gain?

I've been adding a lot of turmeric to my food recently because of its supposed health benefits. But my wife jokingly said I'm putting on weight. Can turmeric actually cause weight gain, or is it unrelated?

No, turmeric does not cause weight gain. In fact, it is known to help with metabolism and inflammation. If you are gaining weight, you need to look at your overall calorie intake and lifestyle, not a pinch of spice.

I have been having haldi doodh after my workouts for recovery, and it definitely hasn't made me gain weight. It's actually super low in calories unless you are putting a lot of sugar in your milk.

Actually, turmeric is known to do the opposite! It helps with bloating and digestion. Just don't worry about it making you gain weight, as normal home-cooked amounts are completely safe and healthy.

I have used turmeric daily in my food for years and my weight has remained completely stable. Personally, I have never experienced any sudden weight gain from using natural kitchen spices.

Haldi is a purifying herb, beta, it does not cause weight gain. We use a pinch of it in warm water or milk to keep the body clean and healthy. Just avoid heavy sweets and processed food if you are worried about your weight.
