Does tizanidine cause weight gain?

Recently started taking Tizanidine for my muscle spasms, and have noticed my weight has gone up a bit since then. I'm trying to figure out if this medicine is making me gain weight. Is weight gain a known side effect of Tizanidine?

Listen, Tizanidine is a muscle relaxant and is not known to directly cause weight gain. However, because it makes you very drowsy and tired, your physical activity might go down significantly, which can lead to putting on weight. Just watch your diet and stay active when you aren't sleepy.

I took Tizanidine for a severe back spasm for about three weeks recently. I didn't gain any weight at all during this time, but it did make me super sleepy and gave me a dry mouth. Just make sure you drink plenty of water and don't worry about weight gain.

Keep your mind peaceful, beta. This medicine is meant to soothe your painful muscles so that your body can heal. Don't worry about gaining weight; just focus on your recovery, eat simple home-cooked meals, and practice deep breathing to keep your energy high.

Honestly, I took this for a sports injury last semester and the only thing it did was knock me out to sleep for hours! I didn't gain any weight because I was barely awake to eat. It's totally fine, just don't take it before lectures.

When I consulted my orthopedician at Kokilaben Hospital, he clearly stated that weight gain is not a listed side effect of Tizanidine. If you are experiencing sudden weight changes, it could be due to other reasons or medications. You should definitely discuss this clearly with your doctor.

My doctor has just prescribed me this medicine for my neck stiffness, but I am very conscious about my weight. Does it cause water retention or increase your appetite after taking it? If anyone has used it long-term, please let me know.

Tizanidine is a short-acting muscle relaxant, so it doesn't stay in your system long enough to cause fat accumulation or major weight gain. Any slight weight change is usually just due to a temporary lack of movement because of the sedative effect. Keep yourself hydrated and you'll be fine.

Since I have PCOS, I am always very careful about any medication affecting my weight. From what my doctor told me, Tizanidine doesn't have a direct link to weight gain, but since it can cause fatigue, it might slow down your daily routine. Try to monitor your activity levels gently.
