Does tirzepatide make your hair fall out?

On Tirzepatide for my health, and I've noticed quite a bit of hair fall recently. My cousin, who is also taking it, mentioned similar issues. Could this medication really be causing my hair to fall out, or is it something else?

I went through severe hair shedding about three months into my treatment. My doctor explained that the rapid weight loss causes a temporary shock to the body, making hair fall out. Once my weight stabilized and I added more protein, my hair completely grew back.

Having PCOS makes me very sensitive to hair thinning already, so I was terrified of this. I did notice some increased shedding when I lost weight quickly on this medicine. It is quite common but usually temporary, so please consult your doctor to ensure your nutrition is on track.

Don't panic about the hair fall, it is just a natural reaction of the body to losing weight so fast. Focus on taking your multivitamins and eating a protein-rich diet daily. Your hair roots will recover once your body adjusts to the new weight, so just be patient.

Yes, I lost quite a bit of hair when my weight dropped rapidly in the first few months. I started taking biotin and collagen supplements after checking with my doctor, and it has controlled the shedding a lot. It's normal, so don't stress.

This is a very frequent question here. The hair loss is not from the chemical in the injection itself, but from a condition called telogen effluvium triggered by quick weight loss. To minimize it, make sure you do not cut down your protein intake drastically while on this medication.
