Does thyroid affect hair loss?

For the past few months, I've noticed significant hair fall, more than usual. I also have a mild thyroid imbalance. Could my thyroid problem be the reason behind this sudden hair loss?

Oh, absolutely! When my thyroid went out of control, my hair started falling like autumn leaves, which was so depressing because I couldn't even enjoy my weekend food guilt-free. Once the thyroid was back in range, my hair also stopped acting up. Definitely get your levels checked.

I am not a doctor, but in my case, my severe hair thinning was directly related to my thyroid levels. Once my doctor adjusted my daily dose, the hair fall reduced significantly after a few months. It's best to discuss this with your doctor.

I lost almost half my hair volume when my TSH levels were high. My advice is to stop buying expensive shampoos and get a proper blood test instead. Once you get on the right dose of thyroid medication, the hair fall will gradually stop, so have patience.

Yes, both underactive and overactive thyroid can cause severe hair fall. I see this question a lot in our community, and the answer is always to treat the root cause, which is the thyroid hormone, rather than relying on external oils. See an endocrinologist.

Haan babu, thyroid se baal bahut jhadte hain. Hamari beti ke baal bhi bahut kamzor ho gaye the is wajah se. Doctor ki dawai shuru karne ke baad ab uske baal dheere dheere theek ho rahe hain. Aap bhi jald hi doctor ko dikhaiye.

I went through this exact same thing last year and it was so scary to see so much hair in the drain. It turns out my thyroid was slightly high. Trust me, it gets better once your thyroid levels are under control, so please don't lose hope!
