Does the patch cause weight gain?

My gynaecologist mentioned the contraceptive patch as an option for birth control. I'm a bit hesitant because I'm trying to maintain my current weight. Does anyone know if the patch typically causes weight gain as a side effect?

Hormonal patches can cause some water retention which feels like weight gain. Focus on a low-sodium, high-potassium vegetarian diet with lots of leafy greens and coconut water to help flush out that extra fluid naturally.

I am planning to switch to the patch but I am really scared of gaining weight. Has anyone here actually gained serious fat on it, or is it just temporary bloating? Please share your experiences.

Hormonal changes can sometimes affect blood pressure and cause fluid retention. If you are using the patch, make sure to get your BP checked regularly and keep your daily salt intake under control to avoid swelling.

I panicked so much when the scale went up by 2 kgs in the first two weeks of using the patch! But my doctor reassured me it was just fluid. True to her word, it completely went away by the third month. Just be patient!

My girlfriend used the contraceptive patch, yaar. Actually, she did feel a bit bloated and had some mild mood swings in the first month, but her weight went back to normal after that. It is mostly temporary.

Haan na, starting any new hormonal thing makes the body feel heavy. It is mostly water retention in the starting months, ho na? Don't stress too much, just eat simple home food and give it some time.

It can cause some bloating or fluid retention due to the hormones. If your doctor allows, try staying active with a daily 40-minute walk or light jogging; it really helps in managing any sudden water weight.

Hormones can upset the body's natural balance and cause swelling. Drinking warm water with a little coriander seeds (dhania) soaked overnight is very good for reducing this water bloating safely.
