Does the initial weight gain from creatine go away?

I recently started taking creatine as part of my workout routine, and I've noticed a slight increase in my weight and feel a bit bloated. Does the initial weight gain from creatine eventually go away, or is it a permanent side effect?

These modern powders often cause water weight in the body, which is not natural fat. If you drink plenty of plain water and eat simple homemade food, the body will balance its fluids gradually.

Since creatine can cause water retention, make sure you are regularly monitoring your blood pressure, as fluid changes can sometimes affect it. Keep your sodium intake in check and do routine checkups with your doctor.

When I started creatine, I gained about 1.5 kg in the first ten days, which made me look a bit bloated. After about three weeks, the bloating went away and my muscles just looked fuller. That was my personal experience with it.

Don't worry too much about these sudden scale changes, beta. It is just your muscles holding water to help you with strength. Give it some time, continue your workouts, and things will normalize naturally.

I completely understand how scary it is to suddenly see the scale go up by 2 kgs in just a week. It really panicked me too, but I learned it is just temporary water retention inside the muscles and it does settle down once your body adjusts.

Yes, it is just water weight in your muscles. It goes away once you stop taking it or when your body gets used to the dose.
