Does the hormonal iud cause weight gain?

My doctor suggested a hormonal IUD for contraception. I'm concerned about side effects because my friend gained weight with birth control pills. Does the hormonal IUD also cause weight gain?

Sometimes minor bloating happens because of hormones, which feels like weight gain. I drank fennel seed water daily to help ease the water retention. However, if you see sudden or massive weight gain, you should consult your gynecologist to check your hormone levels.

I really struggled with this because I gained almost five kilos in three months after getting the IUD, and it made me feel so down. It is very hard when your body changes suddenly, so please be kind to yourself and talk to your doctor about alternative options.

I had a similar issue, but when I got my blood tests done, we found out my thyroid levels were actually off. Do not just blame the IUD; get a full thyroid panel and routine blood checkup done to see what is really happening.

When I got my IUD at Apollo, the doctor clearly told me that some people might experience a little water weight initially, but it usually stabilizes. It is best to ask your gynecologist directly about the exact hormonal dosage of your specific brand.

My wife got the hormonal IUD last year and she definitely noticed some bloating and mood swings initially. She discussed it with her doctor, adjusted her diet slightly, and things got back to normal in about four months.

Yes, I had some bloating and a slight weight increase in the first six months with the hormonal IUD. Honestly, tracking my daily steps and cutting down on late-night sugars helped me manage it completely. Give your body a few months to adjust.
