Does the drug lisinopril cause hair loss?

I've been taking lisinopril for my high blood pressure for about six months now. Lately, I've noticed my hair thinning quite a bit, especially near the temples. Could this medicine be the reason for my hair loss?

I have been taking lisinopril for my blood pressure for over a year now. Personally, I haven't noticed any extra hair fall, but everyone's experience with BP meds can be different.

Yes, hair thinning can occasionally happen with lisinopril, as I experienced it myself. What worked for me was discussing it with my doc, who adjusted the dosage. Don't stop taking it suddenly though, high BP is far more dangerous.

According to some health tracking apps I use, hair loss is listed as a rare side effect of ACE inhibitors like lisinopril. You might want to log your daily symptoms and share the data with your physician during your next visit.

At my age, my hair was leaving me anyway, so I can't really blame the lisinopril! But jokes apart, some people do report mild thinning. Check with your doctor if you see too many strands in the bathroom drain.

Please don't start buying random anti-hairfall oils or online supplements to fix this. If you suspect lisinopril is causing hair loss, go straight to your doctor. They can easily switch you to another class of BP medication.
