Does testosterone make your hair fall out?

A friend of mine who started testosterone therapy mentioned he's losing hair. I'm considering it myself for certain reasons, but I'm worried about baldness. Does testosterone generally cause hair to fall out?

Yes, testosterone converts to DHT which causes hair thinning, especially if baldness runs in your family. Please see a dermatologist for advice.

When my hair was falling out, I thought it was just my thyroid, but my doctor explained that hormonal balance is very complex and testosterone plays a part too. Regular blood tests and constant doctor follow-ups are the only way to manage this. Don't try to guess the cause of your hair fall on your own.

I track my hormonal levels and fitness stats on my health app, and there is a clear link between high free testosterone/DHT and hair thinning. If you are starting any fitness supplements or TRT, log your hair density changes too. Consulting a specialist early can help you manage DHT levels effectively.

Haan na, this hair fall is a huge headache! Testosterone actually gets converted to DHT, and that is what damages the hair roots if you have a genetic tendency. Thoda safe side pe, run it by a dermatologist before starting any hair growth treatments.

The conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is indeed the primary driver of androgenetic alopecia. However, since hair loss can stem from multiple factors, a dermatologist's professional evaluation is always the best path forward. They can prescribe targeted treatments like DHT blockers.

I just dealt with a major hair loss scare after my testosterone levels went up. My dermatologist put me on a proper routine with topical treatments and DHT blockers, and my hair fall has finally stopped. Go get it checked soon, the sooner you start, the more hair you save.
