Does tacrolimus cause weight gain?

My doctor started me on tacrolimus a few months ago for my kidney transplant. I've noticed my weight slowly increasing. Could this medication be responsible; does tacrolimus cause weight gain?

Tacrolimus can cause fluid retention and increase your appetite, leading to weight gain. Since we have desk jobs, it is easy to pile on kilos. Keep a strict check on your salt intake and try to block 30 minutes for a brisk walk daily to counter this.

Haan na, Tacrolimus can definitely cause thoda swelling and weight gain because of water retention. It can also increase your blood sugar, so you have to be very careful with sweets. Just keep a regular check with your doctor.

These strong modern medicines often cause heat and bloating in the body. You must take your dose exactly as the doctor prescribed, but drink plenty of warm water throughout the day. Eating light, home-cooked food without excess oil will help keep your weight in check.

Weight gain on Tacrolimus is often linked to increased appetite or its impact on kidney function and fluid balance. It is very important to get your routine blood sugar and renal tests done as scheduled. Keep a close eye on sudden swelling in your ankles.

Man, this medicine gives me the crazy midnight munchies and then I can't sleep! No wonder my weight is going up. It definitely increases your appetite, so you just have to hide the snacks from yourself at night.
