Does symbicort cause weight gain?

My doctor recently prescribed Symbicort for my respiratory issues. I'm worried about potential side effects, especially weight changes. Does Symbicort cause weight gain?

Actually yaar, Symbicort is an inhaled steroid so very little goes into your bloodstream compared to oral pills. I have been using it for a year and didn't face any weight gain issues. Just rinse your mouth after using it, that is very important.

Don't worry at all! Inhaled medicines act directly in the lungs, so they don't affect your body weight like oral steroids do. Keep active and eat healthy, you will be totally fine. 😊

It can be really distressing to worry about weight gain while already struggling to breathe properly. I remember feeling so anxious every time I took my inhaler, fearing I would bloat up. Just know that your lung health is the priority, and most people don't gain weight on this.

I always try to manage my breathing with warm ginger tea and steam inhalation, but when the doctor prescribes Symbicort, you must take it. Inhalers generally don't cause weight gain, but if you notice sudden swelling in your feet or face, please see your doctor immediately.

I was on Symbicort for my severe asthma post-COVID and was also worried about weight. My doctor explained that inhaled steroids don't have the same systemic side effects as steroid tablets. My weight stayed totally normal throughout the six months of my treatment.
