Does stopping the pill cause weight gain?

On birth control pills for a few years, I'm thinking of stopping them soon. My friend mentioned that she gained weight after she stopped her pills, and now I'm worried. Does stopping the pill cause weight gain for most women?

At this age, even looking at a paratha causes weight gain for me! Jokes aside, when you stop contraceptive pills, your hormones go on a small roller coaster ride. Some women gain a bit of water weight, while others actually lose weight, so don't stress.

I went off the pill last year after taking it for two years. I actually bloated a lot in the first month and thought I was gaining fat, but it was just water retention. It settled down completely by the third month once my natural cycle returned.

Our bodies are natural temples and they take some time to find their balance again after we stop external medicines. Keep your mind peaceful, eat simple home-cooked food, and give your body a few months to heal and adjust naturally.

My daughter went through this same worry when she stopped her hormonal pills. Her gynecologist explained that some temporary weight fluctuation is normal as hormones balance out. We just focused on clean home food and daily walks, and she was absolutely fine.

I completely understand how stressful it is to think about physical changes when stopping a medication. I was terrified of gaining weight when I quit the pill. But honestly, the anxiety was worse than the reality; my weight barely changed by a kilo.

I've been through this twice. Yes, you might see some scale weight go up initially due to water weight, but it's not permanent fat. Drink plenty of water, reduce your salt intake to manage the bloating, and consult your gynecologist if your periods don't regularize.

Hey, don't worry about it too much. Every woman's body reacts differently to hormonal changes, but massive weight gain is quite rare after stopping the pill. Just focus on staying active and eating healthy, and your body will stabilize itself.
