Does spironolactone cause weight gain?

I've started spironolactone for my acne and hormonal imbalances. I'm very conscious about my weight, and I've heard some medications can cause weight changes. Does spironolactone cause weight gain, or is it usually weight neutral?

In our days, we relied on simple herbs like ginger and barley water to reduce body swelling and water retention. This English medicine spironolactone is a diuretic and shouldn't cause weight gain, but do follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

I used to try all kinds of herbal concoctions to manage my bloating and weight. Spironolactone actually acts as a water pill, so it usually causes water weight loss, not weight gain. Just drink enough fluids so you don't get dehydrated.

I totally get it, whenever we start a new prescription, the fear of weight gain is so stressful. But you can relax because spironolactone is a water pill and actually helps reduce bloating and water retention, so it won't make you gain weight.

My daughter was prescribed this for hormonal acne, and we were also very worried about weight gain. It turned out to be completely fine; she actually felt lighter because it reduces water weight. Just make sure they eat a balanced home diet.

Before starting this medicine, make sure you budget for regular kidney function and potassium tests, as it can raise potassium levels. It doesn't cause weight gain, but keeping track of these medical test costs is very important for practical planning.

You don't need to worry about weight gain with this medicine, as it usually helps shed water weight. Take care, follow your doctor's advice, and keep drinking plenty of water.

Since spironolactone is a potassium-sparing diuretic, it won't cause weight gain. However, you should be careful about your diet and avoid consuming too many high-potassium vegetarian foods like bananas and coconut water while taking it.

I visit a reputed hospital in Mumbai and my specialist clearly told me that spironolactone does not cause fat gain; it actually reduces fluid retention. Please ask your doctor clearly about the exact side effects to clear your doubts.
