Does sparkling water cause bloating and weight gain?

I've started drinking sparkling water as an alternative to sugary drinks. However, I've noticed I feel a bit bloated sometimes. Does sparkling water cause bloating and weight gain, or am I just imagining it?

I used to drink sparkling water daily as a substitute for soda, but I noticed it definitely made me feel quite bloated because of all the carbonation. However, it has zero calories, so it won't cause any actual fat or weight gain unless you drink the flavored sweetened ones.

I had severe bloating issues last month and realized it was because of my sparkling water habit. Once I switched back to regular tap water, the heavy feeling in my stomach vanished completely. Don't worry, it's just trapped gas, not fat.

I literally panicked when my clothes felt tight after drinking carbonated water, thinking I was gaining weight. But my doctor laughed and said it was just temporary gas from the bubbles. It goes away in a few hours, so it is completely harmless.

The bubbles are just playing a game inside your stomach, making you look temporarily pregnant, haha! It is just gas, my friend. Unless your sparkling water is loaded with sugar syrup, you are absolutely not gaining any real weight.

Hey! Sparkling water is totally calorie-free, so no weight gain at all! But yes, those fizzy bubbles can sometimes trap air in your tummy and cause temporary bloating. Just drink it slowly and you'll be fine!

I totally get it, that heavy, bloated feeling after having sparkling water is so uncomfortable. Since it's just water, it won't cause actual weight gain, but the carbonation definitely mimics a full belly. Try cutting back for a few days to see if you feel lighter.

My father always says that plain water is best for digestion, and our family doctor agrees. Carbonated or sparkling water can disturb your stomach's natural balance and cause gas. If you feel bloated, try warm water with jeera instead of fizzy drinks.
