Does soy protein cause weight gain?

I've started incorporating soy protein into my diet for muscle building. My gym trainer said it's good, but a friend told me it might lead to weight gain. Does soy protein cause weight gain, or is it a good option for fitness?

Eating soy chunks or homemade soy paneer (tofu) in normal amounts will not cause weight gain, beta. It is a good source of strength. Just avoid those artificial packaged protein powders and stick to simple home-cooked meals.

There is a lot of pseudoscience online claiming soy ruins your thyroid or makes you gain fat. It is simple math—weight gain only happens if you are in a calorie surplus. Verify your daily nutritional requirements with a proper dietitian.

Natural sources like whole soybeans and edamame are very safe and good for health. However, if you are experiencing sudden, unexplained weight gain along with severe swelling or fatigue, please don't rely on self-diagnosis and visit a doctor immediately.

Soy protein actually helps with muscle building and keeping you full, which can support weight loss! Just combine it with daily walking or resistance training, and you will see your body composition improve beautifully.

I agree. Soy protein only causes weight gain if you consume it with high-calorie sugary shakes or processed foods.
