Does soda damage your liver?

My cousin was diagnosed with a liver issue, and her doctor strongly advised against carbonated drinks. She said soda can seriously damage your liver. How much truth is there to this statement?

I survive on late-night coffees and sodas, but honestly, the amount of fructose in these soft drinks is terrible for the liver. It basically turns into fat there. I am trying to cut down because my liver doesn't deserve this torture along with my lack of sleep.

Yes, daily soda consumption can lead to fatty liver disease because of the high sugar. While drinking warm water with lemon can help detoxify, if you have persistent pain in your upper abdomen or extreme fatigue, please get a liver function test done.

I read that drinking soda regularly can cause non-alcoholic fatty liver, and now I am super stressed. Has anyone else felt mild pain on the right side of the stomach after drinking soft drinks? I think I need to get it checked soon.

Regular intake of sodas is a major risk factor for fatty liver. If you have been drinking them for years, it is highly recommended to consult a doctor and get an ultrasound or liver function test done to be on the safer side.

For diabetic patients, soda is extremely risky because the excess sugar gets converted directly into fat in the liver, leading to insulin resistance. I completely avoid all sugary beverages and stick to unsweetened green tea or simple water.
