Does smoking cause weight gain?

I heard some people say that quitting smoking can make you gain weight. Does this mean smoking itself somehow prevents weight gain, or even causes weight loss? I'm trying to understand the connection.

I was actually reading about this yesterday because it is so confusing. Normally, people say smoking suppresses appetite, but some studies show long-term smoking can disturb your metabolism and lead to belly fat. It seems like it affects everyone differently, which is quite interesting.

Honestly, smoking itself might not make you gain weight, but when people try to quit, they often eat more to replace the habit. I always tell my friends to drink warm fennel water or chew on cardamom when they get cravings. It really helps keep the weight in check during the transition.

Our bodies respond to how we treat them, and unnatural habits like smoking can upset your system's natural balance. While it might not directly cause weight gain, it causes internal stress that can disrupt your digestion and weight. Stay positive, eat fresh food, and take gentle care of your health.

In my younger days, we thought smoking kept us slim, but that is a big misconception. Over the years, I saw that heavy smokers in my circle actually gained a lot of unhealthy abdominal fat. Don't fall for the idea that smoking keeps you fit; a simple, active lifestyle is much better.

It is so frustrating when you are trying to manage your weight and feel like your habits are working against you. I used to worry that quitting smoking would make me balloon up, and that fear kept me hooked. It is a tough emotional cycle, but focusing on overall health rather than just the scale helps a lot.

Actually, smoking usually suppresses your appetite, but it can mess up your metabolism big time! Some people actually gain weight after they quit because food suddenly tastes so much better. Just focus on eating good stuff and staying active, you got this!
