Does sleep loss cause weight gain?

Lately, I've noticed I'm putting on weight, even though my diet hasn't changed much. I also haven't been getting proper sleep due to work stress. Can a lack of sleep actually cause weight gain?

Haan na, if we don't sleep, our body gets tired and demands more sugar and heavy food the next day. It is like a direct invite to weight gain. Better to sleep on time.

Does anyone else feel super hungry at 2 AM when they can't sleep? I feel like I'm gaining weight just because of this bad habit and it makes me so worried.

Yes, absolutely. Less sleep messes up your cortisol levels and ruins your insulin sensitivity, making your body store fat much faster. Fix your sleep first if you want to lose weight.

I ignored my poor sleep and sudden weight gain for a year, thinking it was just stress. It turned out to be a major thyroid issue. Please get a proper blood test done instead of ignoring it.

If you are sleeping 5 hours and working out for 2 hours, you won't see results. Sleep is when muscle recovery and fat burn happen. Prioritize 7-8 hours of solid rest.

Sone se hamara pachan tantra thik rehta hai, babu. If we don't sleep, the body gets weak and starts storing fat. Try to sleep early and keep your mind peaceful.

It is so frustrating when you are trying your best to eat clean but still gaining weight because of insomnia. I know how draining it feels, but please be gentle with yourself.

Lack of sleep caused both weight gain and high blood pressure for me. Please monitor your health and lifestyle regularly, and consult a doctor if you see persistent changes.

I was struggling with weight gain for months while working night shifts. Once I switched to a day shift and got a regular sleep routine, I lost 4 kgs without any extreme dieting.

Yes, sleep deprivation increases the hunger hormone ghrelin. It is a very natural biological reaction, so don't blame yourself too much, just work on creating a peaceful bedtime routine.
