Does sleep deprivation cause weight gain?

I've been trying to lose weight for months, but despite eating carefully and exercising, I'm not seeing results, and I'm always tired. My friend told me poor sleep can affect this. Can not getting enough sleep actually lead to weight gain?

Yes, it does. My daughter was staying up late to study and started gaining weight despite eating normal food. Once we fixed her sleep time, her metabolism got back on track.

Actually, when you stay up late, you get those crazy midnight cravings yaar. You end up ordering junk or eating Maggie, which directly leads to weight gain. Better to just sleep early!

I noticed this too, but since I have thyroid, sleep deprivation made my weight gain much worse. If you are struggling with unexplained weight gain and fatigue, please get a thyroid test done.

A disturbed night leads to a disturbed digestion. Drinking a glass of warm milk with turmeric before bed can help you get sound sleep, which keeps the body weight in check naturally.

My grandmother always said sleep is the best medicine for a balanced body. My doctor also confirmed that less sleep messes up hormones like ghrelin which control hunger. So yes, it leads to weight gain.

Don't stress too much about a couple of late nights! But yes, chronic lack of sleep slows down your metabolism. Just try to get back to a good 7-hour routine from tonight.
