Does sleep apnea go away with weight loss?

My doctor told me that losing weight could help with my sleep apnea. I'm trying to be disciplined, but I want to know if it's truly effective. Can sleep apnea actually disappear if one loses a significant amount of weight?

I know how stressful it is to think about sleeping with a machine or dealing with breathing issues. Yes, losing weight can make a huge difference because it reduces fat around your neck that blocks airways. It can significantly improve, so please don't lose hope.

I totally get it, trying to lose weight just to fix your sleep can feel like a massive task. In many cases, reducing your body weight really helps open up the airway, making the apnea much milder or sometimes resolving it. It is definitely worth the effort.

Losing excess body weight naturally reduces the load on your respiratory tract. Along with weight management, practicing Pranayama helps tone the throat muscles. This combination has brought great relief to many seekers.

While weight loss can cure sleep apnea in some people, it is not a guaranteed fix for everyone since structural issues like a narrow throat can also cause it. You must get a proper sleep study done before making any assumptions about your health.

Yes, shedding weight is the most effective lifestyle intervention for obstructive sleep apnea because it clears throat obstruction. However, you should still consult a sleep specialist to monitor your progress and ensure your oxygen levels are safe.
