Does seroquel cause weight gain?

My doctor has prescribed Seroquel for my mental health. A friend who also takes it warned me about significant weight gain. Is Seroquel known to cause weight gain, and how common is it?

Yes, it is a very common side effect of this class of medication due to increased appetite. Discussing dietary changes with your physician is highly recommended.

Hey, don't stress too much about the weight thing right now, okay? Your mental health is the absolute top priority. If you feel your appetite is going up, we can always plan a fun walk together or look at healthy snacks, but definitely let your doctor know about it.

When we take strong medications, they can affect our natural metabolic flow and appetite. I have found that practicing mindful eating and deep breathing pranayama daily helps calm those sudden cravings. Do consult your doctor to ensure your overall health is supported gently.

Weight gain toh thoda hota hai isme, ho na. Actually it makes you feel very hungry, especially at night. Just speak to your doctor once to manage this safely.

I can only speak from my personal experience of taking it for six months. I did experience a noticeable increase in my appetite, especially late at night, which led to some weight gain. Your experience might be different, so do discuss it with your physician.

Weight changes can sometimes indicate underlying metabolic shifts that need clinical attention. For your own safety, please do not ignore rapid weight changes. Get your vitals and blood sugar checked by your doctor as soon as possible.

Yes, it is known to cause metabolic syndrome and weight gain in a significant number of patients. You need to be very proactive with your macro tracking and daily activity. Discuss metformin or other weight-neutral options with your psychiatrist.

While looking into this for a family member, I found that it often alters metabolic parameters and increases insulin resistance. It seems like a very common clinical observation, so having an open discussion with the treating psychiatrist about it is highly recommended.

I am about to start this medicine and I am a bit nervous about the weight side effects. Has anyone here managed to control the cravings with a specific routine, or does the doctor usually change the prescription?

Since I already deal with thyroid-related weight struggles, I know how frustrating metabolic shifts can be. If you are on this medication, please get your blood sugar and lipid levels checked regularly. Follow up closely with your doctor to monitor any sudden metabolic changes.
