Does seroquel cause hair loss?

I've been on Seroquel for a while now to manage my condition. In the past few months, I've noticed a significant increase in hair fall, and my hair feels much thinner. Is hair loss a common side effect of Seroquel?

Yes, hair thinning is a rare but documented side effect of some psychiatric medications. Consulting your psychiatrist for a dose adjustment or alternative usually helps.

I got so scared when I saw extra hair on my pillow after starting my therapy. But my doctor explained it was just a temporary reaction to the new medication and reassured me. The shedding stopped completely after a few weeks once my system adjusted.

Do not start applying random onion juices or buying expensive anti-hairfall shampoos recommended on the internet. Seroquel is a serious neuro-medication, and any side effects must be directly discussed with the prescribing psychiatrist, not managed on your own.

For mild hair health, you can try scalp massages with warm coconut oil, but remember that medicine-induced changes need clinical attention. If you are experiencing sudden, heavy hair loss, please do not ignore it. Go and see your doctor as soon as possible.

With a busy work schedule, managing hair fall on top of mental health treatments is highly stressful. Honestly, instead of trying self-remedies that take months to show results, send a quick message to your doctor and ask if they can recommend a safe biotin supplement.

Sometimes medications can affect nutrient absorption, which impacts your hair health. Make sure you are hitting your daily protein and micro-nutrient goals through clean whole foods. Definitely mention the shedding to your doctor at your next clinical follow-up.
