Does rosuvastatin cause hair loss?

Lately, I've noticed a lot more hair fall than usual, especially when I wash my hair. I recently started taking rosuvastatin for high cholesterol. Could there be a connection?

I was so worried about my hair thinning after starting my cholesterol meds that I almost skipped my favorite butter chicken weekends out of stress. Honestly, my doctor said hair loss from statins is pretty rare. I just try to eat more almonds and protein now to balance things out.

Beta, my husband has been taking this tablet for two years now. His hair is still fine, just the usual age-related thinning. Don't worry too much, but if you feel you are losing too much hair, please ask your doctor if they can change the dose.

Hey, take a deep breath. It's listed as a very rare side effect, but most people don't experience actual hair fall because of this medicine. If you are noticing more hair on your comb lately, it could just be stress or a vitamin deficiency. Go speak to your doctor before making any assumptions.

I completely understand how devastating it feels to see your hair falling out, it really affects your self-esteem. When my hair started thinning, I cried for days thinking it was my new medication. It turned out to be severe iron deficiency, so please get a proper blood test done to know the real cause.

Do not let anxiety take over your peace of mind, as stress itself causes hair fall. Just take your medicines with a calm heart and trust the healing process. If your body is showing signs of distress, gently discuss it with your physician during your next visit.

Please get this checked by your doctor immediately if you notice sudden hair loss. I once ignored a similar side effect from a different medicine, thinking it was just seasonal change, and ended up losing a lot of hair before I finally went to the clinic. Don't wait like I did.

Don't start applying onion juice or buying expensive hair oils based on online reviews. Half the internet will tell you statins cause hair loss, and the other half will deny it. Just talk to the cardiologist who prescribed it to you, they have seen thousands of patients and know best.

Oh my god, I have been checking my hairline every day since I started my new meds too, so I totally feel your panic! It's so scary when you think a life-saving medicine is affecting your hair. I really hope it's just a temporary phase for you, definitely ask your doctor to ease your mind.
