Does rice cause weight gain?

I eat rice almost every day for lunch and dinner, it's a staple in our household. I've been struggling to lose weight, and my trainer suggested cutting down on carbs. Does rice specifically cause weight gain, or is it more about the quantity and type?

Replacing white rice with brown rice or red rice at home is a great natural way to manage weight. However, if you are gaining weight very suddenly despite eating less, please consult a doctor to check for thyroid issues.

The dietitians at the hospital where I go told me that rice doesn't cause weight gain unless you eat it in surplus. You should ask a clinical nutritionist to guide you on the exact portion size suitable for your daily activity.

Eating freshly cooked rice in the afternoon gives clean energy for your daily activities. When combined with regular yoga practice, the body burns it off naturally without storing it as stubborn fat.

My teenager was gaining weight, so we didn't stop rice completely but reduced the portion and added lots of dal and salad to the plate. It is a very practical way to keep them full without letting them gain excess fat.
