Does rexulti cause weight gain?

My psychiatrist recently put me on Rexulti to manage my symptoms. While I'm feeling better mentally, I'm worried about potential side effects, especially weight gain. Is weight gain a common issue for people taking Rexulti?

Haan na, weight gain is a very common issue with these types of medications. My cousin was on it and she gained about 5 kgs in a few months because her appetite increased so much. It is better to talk to the doctor about managing it early.

Yes, it is known to cause weight gain and metabolic changes in many individuals. For your safety, you must get your blood sugar and cholesterol levels checked regularly while taking this medication. Always keep your treating physician fully informed of any rapid changes.

I noticed some weight gain when I started this because I just wanted to eat sweet things all the time. I started stocking my fridge with fruits and sugar-free yogurt instead of biscuits. It is hard, but small diet changes really make a difference!

In our clinic, we do see patients gaining weight on Rexulti as it can alter metabolism and increase hunger. My practical advice is to drink plenty of water before meals and keep a check on portion sizes. Don't worry, with a bit of planning, it is quite manageable.

Weight gain is indeed a documented side effect of Rexulti due to its metabolic effects. However, you should never stop or alter your dosage without consulting your psychiatrist. They can safely guide you on dietary modifications or switch the medication if the gain is excessive.

When I was prescribed this at Kokilaben Hospital, my doctor clearly warned me about potential weight changes. He advised me to track my food and get regular lipid profile tests. I highly recommend asking your doctor directly how to monitor this during your treatment.
