Does radiation treatment make your hair fall out?

I saw a relative undergoing some cancer treatment recently, and they started losing their hair quite a bit. Does radiation treatment typically cause hair to fall out, or is it more commonly associated with chemotherapy? Just curious to understand the differences.

Hey! It actually only causes hair loss in the specific area where the radiation is targeted. So if you are getting treated on your arm or chest, your head hair will stay completely fine! 🌸 Keep your spirits high!

Since head hair loss only happens during brain radiation, you don't need to budget for expensive wigs or hair treatments if your therapy is on other body parts. Focus your finances on managing the daily transport costs to the hospital and the recommended skin creams instead.

I was incredibly anxious about this before my sister's treatment and kept searching online for answers. It turns out radiation is localized, so head hair only falls out if the brain is targeted. I hope this reassures you and takes some weight off your mind.

The hair will only thin or fall out in the specific spot receiving the energy beams. Practice daily deep breathing or Pranayama to keep your mind calm during this phase. Trust that your body has immense natural power to heal and regenerate itself in time.

My aunt went through radiation for breast cancer and her head hair didn't fall out at all. She only lost a tiny bit under her arm where the beam was directed. It is completely different from chemo, so please don't worry about going bald.
