Does radiation make your hair fall out?

My doctor suggested radiation for my condition, and I'm a bit worried about the potential side effects. Someone mentioned that radiation treatment can cause hair fall. Is that true for all kinds of radiation, or only specific types?

I used to get so stressed thinking radiation would cause complete baldness like chemotherapy does. But I found out it actually only causes hair loss in the specific area being treated. If you aren't getting radiation on your head, your scalp hair won't fall out, so please try not to panic.

I went through head radiation last year, and yes, my hair fell out in that specific spot. My advice is to use a very soft baby brush, avoid any harsh chemicals, and wear light cotton scarves. It does start growing back after a few months, so keep your chin up.

Hair loss from radiation is localized to the area being treated and is usually temporary. Do not let this worry affect your peace of mind, as inner strength is vital for healing. Take care of yourself, eat well, and stay positive.

Haan na, log aksar confuse ho jaate hain chemotherapy aur radiation mein. Sikaai se hair loss sirf usi part par hota hai jahan target kiya gaya ho. Agar chest ya leg par radiation ho raha hai, toh head hair nahi jhadenge.

Only if you are getting your head zapped under the machine! Otherwise, your lovely locks are completely safe. So if it's anywhere else, you can cancel your wig orders and save that money for a nice treat!

Honestly, I panicked big time when I saw patch of hair missing during my treatment, thinking I was going completely bald. But my doctor reassured me it was only because of the localized radiation on my neck, and it stopped after a few weeks. It is totally normal and nothing to get scared about.
