Does putting feet in water help migraine?

I've been suffering from frequent headaches and someone suggested putting my feet in water. Does putting feet in water really help with migraine pain, or is it just a traditional belief?

Soaking your feet in hot water is known as a hydrotherapy technique. My neurologist explained that this action draws blood away from the head to the lower extremities, which can temporarily relieve migraine throbbing. However, it should be used as a supportive measure alongside your prescribed abortive medications.

In our family, my mother always suggested putting feet in warm water to reduce head pain. My doctor also explained that this helpfully dilates the blood vessels in your lower body, reducing the pressure in your head. It is a safe and comforting practice to try during an attack.

Yes, it really does help! 👣 Soaking your feet in warm water can relax your whole body and ease that awful head pressure. Pair it with an ice pack on your forehead for a double cooling effect! ❄️

My teenage daughter gets terrible migraines during her exams. We always prepare a bucket of comfortably hot water for her feet and make her sit in a quiet room. It doesn't cure it completely, but it definitely gives her enough relief to rest and fall asleep.

Yeah bro, it actually works. Whenever I get a bad headache after staring at screens all day, I put my feet in a bucket of hot water for 15 minutes. It literally pulls the tension down from your head and helps you relax instantly.

If you have diabetes like me, you must be extremely careful with this remedy. Because of diabetic neuropathy, we might not feel how hot the water actually is, which can cause severe burns on the feet. Always have someone else check the water temperature first.
