Does prolactin cause weight gain?

I recently found out my prolactin levels are high, and I've also noticed I've been gaining weight without any changes to my diet or exercise. Could high prolactin be the reason for this weight gain?

Yes, high prolactin levels can slow down your metabolism and lead to some weight gain. Along with your doctor's advice, practicing gentle pranayama like Anulom Vilom daily really helped me balance my stress levels and manage my weight better.

Listen, don't stress too much about this! High prolactin can definitely make you feel a bit bloated and cause some weight changes, but it is totally treatable. Talk to your doc, get your levels checked, and take it one day at a time, buddy.

I went into a complete panic when I saw my high prolactin reports and realized I had gained 5 kgs out of nowhere. But my endocrinologist reassured me, put me on mild medication, and my weight started returning to normal within a few months. It's very common and manageable!

From a fitness perspective, hormonal imbalances like high prolactin can make losing weight a bit tougher because it affects fat metabolism. You don't have to overdo it, just focus on a clean, protein-rich diet and basic strength training while your doctor helps you balance the hormones.

Yes, it can cause weight gain because of how it affects your body's hormones. Please don't be hard on yourself, with the right treatment from a specialist, your weight will gradually settle back to normal.

Honestly, high prolactin made me feel like a balloon and ruined my sleep on top of it. It definitely contributes to weight gain, or maybe I was just midnight snacking because I couldn't sleep! Definitely get it checked so you can get some peace of mind.
