Does progesterone hrt cause weight gain?

My doctor has recommended HRT with progesterone for my severe menopause symptoms. I'm a bit concerned about weight gain, as I've heard that some hormone treatments can cause it. Is this a common side effect of progesterone in HRT?

I finished my HRT cycle last month and yes, I did gain about 3 kgs during the process, mostly around my waist. However, it was majorly water bloating and went away once my body returned to its normal rhythm. Don't worry, it's not permanent fat.

Hormone replacement therapy can sometimes cause fluid retention which mimics weight gain. When my wife was on HRT, we had to monitor her blood pressure and sodium levels very carefully. Make sure you do regular health checkups and keep your salt intake minimal.

My sister experienced a lot of bloating during her HRT treatment. Our elders suggested drinking warm cumin seed water daily to ease the digestion, which helped a lot. Still, it is always best to consult your doctor if you feel the weight increase is too sudden.

My aunt was complaining about this just last week, saying her clothes are getting tight after starting her HRT. It seems pretty common from what she was telling us. It is mostly just bloating and nothing to stress about too much.

According to my gynecologist, progesterone HRT can slow down gut motility, leading to constipation and abdominal bloating. This often feels like sudden weight gain, but it is rarely fat accumulation if your calorie intake is constant. She advised drinking plenty of fluids and staying active.

Progesterone can cause your body to retain extra sodium and water, which definitely shows up on the scale. To manage this, try to cut down on pickles, papads, and processed snacks. Increasing your daily water intake actually helps flush out the retained fluids faster.

I have been advised to start progesterone HRT next month and I am really nervous about the side effects. Does the weight gain happen immediately, or does it take some time? I would appreciate if anyone could share their experience.

I have gained nearly 4 kgs in just two months of starting this HRT and it is making me so anxious. Has anyone else experienced such a rapid increase? I am eating the same as before, so I don't know what to do.
