Does pregnancy make you gassy?

I've been experiencing a lot of gas and bloating lately, and it's quite uncomfortable. My sister said it's normal during pregnancy. Does pregnancy commonly make you gassy?

Yes, progesterone slows down your entire digestive tract, which inevitably leads to bloating and gas. I track my wife's meals and symptoms on a health tracker, and we noticed that logging food helps identify exactly which items trigger the worst gas. Try eating smaller, more frequent meals.

Please avoid trying random home remedies or self-medicating with over-the-counter gas pills during pregnancy. Some ingredients can be harmful for the baby. Mention the bloating to your gynaecologist, and let them suggest a safe remedy.

I feel so bloated and heavy after almost every meal, to the point where my stomach actually hurts. Is this normal or am I eating the wrong foods? Did anyone else suffer from severe gas in their first trimester?

My doctor explained that the hormone progesterone relaxes the muscle tissue in your gastrointestinal tract, which slows down digestion. This is actually a natural process so your body can absorb more nutrients, but the side effect is gas. Walking for 15 minutes after meals helped me a lot.

My wife and I panicked initially thinking the sharp gas pains were something serious with the pregnancy. But our doctor reassured us that it is completely normal and very common. Drinking warm water and avoiding heavy, deep-fried food made a huge difference.

Let's be real, pregnancy gas is real and can be quite embarrassing. There is no point hiding it; just avoid carbonated drinks and cut down on heavy lentils like rajma for a bit. It gets much better once you manage your diet properly.
